About Me

Cypher (she/her) is a self-taught and community-taught brown, queer, and working-class Tamizh diaspora writer in Canada. Her writing is musical, political, philosophical, and introspective. Her work has been featured by Wildscape Literary Journal, OTHERSIDE, FeelsZine, and several other publications. You can read some of these works here.

Cypher’s community of readers and writer-friends are called The Phreaks (the ‘ph’ from Cypher combined with the word ‘freak’). This name is a nod to the societal estrangement and alienation that she and her people experience, as well are an acknowledgement of the togetherness they share because of it.
